Immersed in the hills of Pisa, among dispersed hamlets, you will find Stefano Scardigli’s farm “Le Fraine sul Lago”. The name alludes to an old regional farmers’ tradition, the growing of an ancient type of buckwheat, the so-called “Fraina”, and to the landscape with its precious lake (in Italian: “Lago”). This lake has become a nature reserve, protected by the L.I.P.U. (Lega Italiana Protezione Uccelli: Italian Association of bird protection).
Stefano and his family grow cereal, vines and olives. They wish to cultivate natural products and they therefore pay a lot of respect to nature.
Each apartment has its independent entrance and its own garden pavilion, where you can spend pleasant moments in the open air. Furthermore to each apartment belongs its own barbecue, surrounded by fresh herbs such as thyme, rosemary, sage and chives, which can be cooked on the grill. The garden with alleys from stone, hedges and flowers frames the pool with cascade and sea-salt-water. Besides, those who have a love for extensive walks and for the art of photography can use the mountain bikes which are at your free disposal or they can follow the paths along the lake in the nature reserve.
